My new punk radio show
Hi folks, just posting that i now do a punk music radio show on the internet if anybody fancies a listen, i play punk, OI!, folk punk, goth, bit of the noisier side of industrial, grindcore, crust, anarchopunk, punknroll in fact anything punk related, aswell as the odd bit of rock/metal and the odd wildcard i fancy throwing in there :P
if anybody fancies listening its on sundays (from about 2pm GMT and lasts till 5.30), i also fill in at other times when there isnt a live dj on, normally the station is rock n roll, rockabilly, psychobilly, blues orientated.
the website address is www.rockindevilradio.com, theres a built in player on the site to listen and a chatroom if you wanna request a song or 3
you can also use a playlist link to listen in the media player of your choice
http://listen.radionomy.com/rockin-devilradio.m3u
its also available on android on the tunein app so you can listen on yer phone ;)
so i suppose in a way this blog is now redundant, not sure how i can fit the other types of music into the show but we'll see :)

Amit - Mansons truth
Heres a track i took a great fancy to off Amits album "9 times", Amit are a drum and bass act.
It's quite dark and slow with Charles Manson talking about the truth, prison and slaughterhouses.

Sonic boom foundation - Folsom prison blues
Heres another weird thing i've recently discovered. It's a Johnny Cash cover by a band that are a mix of electronica and indie.
This song reminds me of The happy mondays.

Flowers in the dustbin - Last tango in vietnam
Flowers in the dustbin have always been one of my dirty little secrets, even in anarcho punk circles they are not always known about.
I first heard em by buying the all the best people are perverts tape from a punk tape distro in the mid 80s
i LOVE this song, even tho its far from the normal sounding anarcho punk stuff.

Conflict - mighty and superior
simply one of the most powerful, emotional, thought provoking songs EVER!!!!
LYRICS
Mighty & superior we're the rulers you're the ruled.
We say the grass is greener on the other side, but you can't see that of course
We represent the nation it's our people we put first
We even bail out third world countries, it's OUR Investment they DESERVE IT
Simply forcing the back the Russians with peace missiles built for trust
Screwing with the Yankees - Law and Order Is our must
Sick and fucking tired of their collaborations
Forwarding the clock to our extermination
Get a one-way seat to destruction
Their choice - our must - to rise with the mushroom
Hail to the mushroom - the total combustion. The realization of annihilation
Poseidon's answer, the Trident blunders, Your choice - our must - to die
But you're wrong. Mighty and invincible as they boil the seas for power
Recruiting armies on the land to protect the state that cowers
From the Russkies - from the dollar. One's Investment, One, our enemy
These people why can't they love. Human feelings, don't they matter?
Much rather they would rule, building castles and tycoons
A crust out to the third world, sending rockets to the moon
Making missiles, tanks and bombs, nuclear power for our homes
Raising hell up from the mines, to the last humans sacrifice...
Well, if you think all's well and strong
There's a movement that's uprising, If you think we can take that
You've got one hell of a shock coming
You might just have pushed too far - you're superior to nothing
The UNGOVERNABLE force Is gonna drag you out of hiding
You think you've got us beaten. You make one slip and you'll know it
We're watching every move you make, as you are us! - FORGET IT
For once we take an inch you just watch us take the mile
Your servants have turned their backs on you, now the world starts to smile!!!
Mighty and superior you are the rulers, we're the ruled
You said the grass was greener on the other side, but we couldn't see! of course
You represent your people, It's your own kind you put first
You bail out third world countries, YOUR Investment to preserve
Forcing back the Russians with peace missiles built for ???

Transglobal Underground - Dopi
I love this song, a great reggae tune done by a 90s multicultural, hippy, trance band steeped in world music.
The song was off their classic album international times which came out in the early 90s.
A Dopi is african for a ghost

The The - Another boy drowning
Heres a very dark song by a great and very underlooked band The The. The The are a dark jazzy band in a similer mould to Nick Cave and the bad seeds.
Their album and single "infected" was a minor hit but they never got the popularity they deserve, even in the indie scene (maybe that was cos theyre a bit too jazzy?)

Leftfield - Original
Heres a track from possibly my fave dance album ......AND fave album ever "Leftfield - Leftism".
Every track is a classic, full of heavy percussion, space, dub, progressive house.
Leftfield are two old punks that got into dance music in the late 80s and released single upon single in the early 90s which were popular with people in the know but it wasnt till their debut album in 1995 they hit the big time and even got nominated for a mercury music prize.
sadly they only released 1 more album, then later on a best of emerged and then they split :(
They were both musicians and got guests to perform vocals on their tracks......including one John lydon on the single "open up"

Half man half biscuit - national shite day
One of "Uncle" John peels faves from his radio show over the years. Who can forget early 80s classics such as trumpton riots and Fuckin' 'ell it's Fred Titmus.
Well here's a track off their last album "CSI Ambleside", still has the satire, the mundane and the humour.
Enjoy

Oral - Black Leather
This songs both interesting and baffling as i'd heard it done by the Sex Pistols (well paul Cook and Steve Jones anyway) that was released on 7" in the Pistols pack.
I always presumed they wrote it (tho ive never seen the single to see who its written by) then i come across this 4 cd set of mostly NWOBHM songs in a charity shop and this songs on it, it states (Oral) as who its written by, so im thinking it was released by Oral in about 78/79? then "borrowed" by the remnants of the Sex Pistols at the very end of their career (79/80?)
anway hear Orals version here

Orchestral manouvers in the dark
Yesterday i dug out some 80's vinyl to play and rediscovered some OMD, i love the 80's synth pop stuff.
I alwas remember in school i refused to follow the normal classical music stuff and so was left to write about my two favourite music genres of the time, punk and synth/electronic stuff eg:- kraftwerk
Looking back on OMD their early work is vry industrial sounding and dark, like these two tracks im posting:-
Enola gay (we all know what the Enola Gay was)
Stanlow
the first and last songs off the album Organisation from 1980
